Precautions Concerning Counterfeit Batteries
Thank you for your continuous support of Canon and our products.
We, Canon, wish to take this opportunity to advise you on the lithium-ion battery packs used with Canon Digital Cameras and Digital Camcorders. Recently, it has come to our attention that counterfeit lithium-ion battery packs passing off as genuine Canon battery packs can be found for sale.
As counterfeit battery packs are often not equipped with protective devices to satisfy certain basic quality standards, using or recharging these counterfeit battery packs could cause your camera or camcorder to malfunction and/or result in these battery packs overheating, leaking liquids, igniting or exploding. This could, in the worst case, not only damage your camera or camcorder, but also result in serious incidents such as fire and personal injury like burns or loss of eyesight. We strongly urge you, for the sake of your property and safety, not to use any counterfeit battery packs.
Should you have any doubts or queries as to the genuineness of any battery pack purporting to be a Canon product, please do contact your local Canon Service Centres for assistance.
Please be advised that Canon shall not be liable for any damage and/or loss arising from malfunctions or accidents resulting from use of non-genuine Canon lithium-ion battery packs.
We sincerely hope that you continue to enjoy using Canon products.
