Salams,

Hari Ahad ada member buat kelas kat KLCC Park. Saya tak join tapi turun sebab nak kasi tahu Head Security on duty tentang approval utk shoot di park tu & nak jumpa kawan2 yg join kelas tu.

http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h19/torqxic/DSC_8324w.jpg
~ Billboard pun dalam tulisan asing....crowd jgn cerita lah....ni baru kat luar...bila kami masuk ke dalam salah satu kedai makan kaum Shan, memang langsung terasa seperti berada di negara asing....

~ The suspicious but accommodating owner of the Mall Shan in KL,Malaysia observing me composing my shot while some Shan immigrants passes by.

~ A Shan youngster (left) on phone while a collection of Myanmar artiste's CDs mounted on the walls behind him are set for sale. Fellow phototojournalist RAHMAN ROSLAN sat next to the Myanmar dude.

~ A group of Myanmar youths enjoying some light dishes & beer. Some of them have legal permits to work and goes bacck to Myanmar once in a while.

NOTE: Saya & Rahman tak kenal diorang ni, masa masuk Mall Shan tu memang penuh & Rahman telah mengingatkan saya bahawa kami perlu blend in sepantas mungkin untuk mengelakkan prasangka & kejadian yg tidak diingini. Mula-mula tu agak slow la conversation kami tapi lama kelamaan mereka semakin selesa & casual.

~ A monk hunting for donation from Myanmar restaurant to another around Leboh Pudu. A colorful bandis given to each contributor - as informed by one of the Shan youngster it is a symbol of blessing.

 .....

Sebenarnya Leboh Pudu adalah destinasi terakhir kami...lepas tu kami "mamam" & berbincang tentang apa yg telah kami lakukan seharian.

http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h19/torqxic/DSC_8368w.jpg
~ "Apamenda kau shoot ni Torque? Kau nak aku hentak meja keee kau nak aku starlight dahi kau?"

http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h19/torqxic/DSC_8228bwW.jpg
~ Meet Uncle Ramu.....a street dweller, deranged but still sane in many ways....

http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h19/torqxic/DSC_8265w.jpg
~ We spent most of the day talking & taking photograph of Uncle Ramu....we took turns sometimes, just so that we are able to get the variety of emotions & expressions for our documentation

http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h19/torqxic/DSC_8174w.jpg
~ Uncle Ramu is "friendly" and he can go on talking for hours but he will not be annoyed if we stop him short & ask him some questions.

InsyaAllah.

~ Literally living on the sidewalks of the streets around Leboh Ampang, Uncle Ramu is an interesting subject that we managed to catch last Sunday. The community around him knows his existence and to a certain extent, his history. It was told that he used to be a construction manager and when we asked him, he acknowledged.
A supervisor running a construction site nearby is rather close to Uncle Ramu and the workers of the site mentioned that the supervisor actually used to work with Uncle Ramu.
Uncle Ramu speaks Bahasa Melayu fluently and he has a very good command of English language too. If you stay and observe his behavior you may find at times he'll converse with "his subordinates", explaining to them what they need to do and the consequences if they cannot complete the tasks.

....(nanti wa sambung lagi kalau larat...)

~ Uncle Ramu claims he is from Telok Anson, Perak. He has a wife and a son, still studying in Sg Way.
He has not met them for years as he claimed when he went for operation, none of his family members came & visited him but he added "Tak apa, diorang sibuk, tak apa..." . He said the operation costs him a lot of money luckily the company sponsored for it. He does not want to be a burden to the family since the son is still schooling so he decided to be as is. How true is the story, Wallahua'lam.

~ Uncle Ramu with one of the workers at a nearby construction site - Fathurrahman from Indonesia, who has been working for 3 years in Malaysia and never once went back to his kampung near Borobudur. He lives near Pudu Raya and when asked whether it is save if we would want to sleep around the area of Uncle Ramu (for real, alang2 nak buat documentary!!) he advised us not to. There are cases where the poor street dwellers are forced to surrender whatever they have. Sadly the culprits are locals, Malaysians "mat fit". Two days before we did this shoot, Fathurrahman witnessed a Malay couple - drug addicts loitering & spending the night around the same area.

OT sikit...maaf ya...

OT lagi sekali, maaf...
Exhibition Chap Ayam Photographers pada 19 April terpaks ditunda ke suatu tarih yg akan di tetapkan, berikutan terdapat masalah pada Galeri Seni di UiTM itu sendiri;

Saya tak galakkan sangat kamu pergi atas sebab-sebab keselamatan - kami pergi pun sebab nak cari maklumat & Rahman Roslan memang dah masak dgn cara nak "blend-in" bila kena assignment ke tempat2 seperti ini....cuak memang la cuak tapi itulah sebahagain asam-garam photojournalist/ documentary writer agaknya....
