View Full Version : Damnoen Saduak : The Floating Market , Thailand

A visit to Thailand is incomplete ( well for me at least ) if you dont experience shopping groceries, the old fashion way...on boats, which used to be thailand's main form of transportation...nowadays it is less a struggle but business still goes.....The floating market opens daily from 6am-1pm....It is located about 100km from Thailand's capital and can be reached via bus (like we did) or even taxi....but if you want the most photogenic time,get there as early as possible before the flock of tourist busses arrive....perhaps before 8am...we unfortunately arrived at 830...but still ok lar.... :wink:

By noon, most of the boat vendors would park their ride underneath the shade while visitors would walk up by the path at the side....

This aged lady had smiles all over her whenever i looked at her...but for a brief moment her look shows her lengthy life experience....
This is the lady that sell 'kueh kuichai', a traditional delicacies...not many tourist buy it, but i did and certainly many locals bought it during our short break overlooking her stall...

Perhaps not portrayed in this pic, but this guy is the most animated vendor i noticed...he moved from boat to boat and sell of his jokes that literally light up all the other vendors around him...
and oh yeah, he sells fresh coconut...sluurpp...a havenly treat when you are getting burnt by the scorching heat...

AKU terharu tgk diorang nih...walaupun hidup tak lah senang cam most of us here...tapi they are still full of smiles....
