Dear Jamal Rahman,

I am the Asia Editor at Demotix (www.demotix.com), and I am trying to build up our Malaysia team.

Demotix is a global newswire service and photo agency which aims to combine journalism with activism. By providing a secure platform for our contributors to tell their stories and send their images we aim to break down the barriers to freedom of speech and fill the gap left by the ever-decreasing number of staff journalists, photojournalists and correspondents.

Our content is entirely user-generated which means members of the Demotix community are free to choose what they cover and how they cover it (we do not have an editorial policy but will suggest stories that we think should be covered from time to time). We also aim to offer photographers a fair deal: All fees are split 50:50 between the contributor and ourselves and copyright is always held by the photographer. At Demotix we believe all stories deserve to be covered and all citizens can make a contribution, thus, anyone can join Demotix.
